Kidnappers Will Now Face Death by Hanging— Ondo Govt

Ondo Government has announced that anyone convicted of kidnapping in the state will now face death penalty by hanging.

Gatekeepers News reports that the Attorney General and Ondo State Commissioner for Justice, Kayode Ajulo (SAN), made the announcement at a news briefing after the State Executive Council meeting on Saturday in Akure, the state capital.

Ajulo stated that, under the revised anti-kidnapping law, the Ondo State House of Assembly would formally adopt the death penalty by hanging as the punishment for kidnapping.

The commissioner noted that any property or facility used in the act of kidnapping would be demolished, subject to court procedures.

He added that the government is also concerned about the rising incidents of cultism across the state and is prepared to take firm action against it.

Ajulp added, “The Governor, being a lover of the rule of law, would not go the way it’s being done in other states without following necessary court due process.”

“We should know that we have investors coming to the state, and as part of the measures, we should ensure we encourage them that they and their investment are safe.”
