The Vice President of Brazil, Geraldo Alckmin, and his wife, Maria Alckmin, have visited Nigeria for second session of Nigeria-Brazil Strategic Dialogue Mechanism.
Gatekeepers News reports that they touched down at the Presidential Wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Tuesday morning.
The Brazilian delegation was received by top Nigerian officials including the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Senator Ibrahim Hadejia; Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole; Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Maiha; Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari; as well as other senior Nigerian government officials.
Speaking at the airport reception, Senator Hadejia said the visit is a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s renewed hope agenda, stressing the strategic importance of strengthening ties with Brazil.
He said, “This dialogue mechanism represents our commitment to leveraging South-South partnerships that deliver tangible benefits to our citizens.”
“Brazil’s expertise in agribusiness, energy transition, and industrial development aligns perfectly with Nigeria’s transformation priorities and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
The three-day summit is expected to conclude with the signing of over 30 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) spanning key sectors such as defence cooperation, agricultural technology transfer, energy collaboration, and cultural exchange programmes.
