Club World Cup: PSG Beat Messi’s Inter Miami 4-0 – Advance To Quarterfinals

European champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) secured a 4-0 victory against Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami in the FIFA Club World Cup held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Saturday.

Gatekeepers News reports that the match, saw PSG take control early, with midfielder João Neves opening the scoring in the sixth minute.

Neves doubled the lead in the 39th minute, capitalising on a defensive error to complete the first brace of his professional career.

Five minutes later, substitute defender Tomás Avilés accidentally put the ball in his net, giving PSG a commanding 3-0 lead. Defender Achraf Hakimi added a fourth in stoppage time before halftime.

Celebrating after the match, Neves said, “We (had) a very good game. Even when we were winning four-nil, we didn’t stop. We keep on playing our game and I think it was a positive day for us. It’s the first time I scored two in one game, so I’m very happy but I’m happier for the win.”

PSG head coach, Luis Enrique praised his team saying, “I’m happy with all the players, with the mentality and the attitude. I think we need to improve, like always. … But, I’m happy.”

With the win, PSG moves on to face either Brazil’s Flamengo or Germany’s Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals.
