Abdullahi Sule, Governor of Nasarawa state, has declared that he will openly name his preferred candidate ahead of 2027 governorship election.
Gatekeepers News reports that the Governor while speaking during an APC stakeholders’ meeting forNasarawa West Senatorial Zone held in Keffi on Sunday, said he has the constitutional right to name his preferred successor.
Sule urged governorship aspita ta within the party to avoid actions that could destabilize the political atmosphere.
While affirming that power ultimately belongs to God, he said part of his responsibility as Governor is to ensure a free, fair, and transparent primary process.
He said, “But A.A. Sule also has the right to support someone. When the time comes, I’ll clearly name my preferred candidate.”
“And I will not be afraid to publicly endorse who I believe should succeed me. I am responsible for ensuring the primary election is free, fair, and transparent.”
Sule praised the organisers of the meeting for fostering peace and unity within the senatorial zone and encouraged similar engagements across other zones to consolidate the party’s strength statewide.
The Governor also commended stakeholders for their peaceful conduct during President Bola Tinubu’s recent visit to the state.
