Tech mogul Elon Musk has announced the creation of a new political party in the United States, the America Party.
Gatekeepers News reports that the declaration came on Saturday, just a day after Musk conducted a poll on X, asking users if a new political party was needed.
He wrote, “By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party, and you shall have it!”
“When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy.”
“Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.”
Musk’s push for political reform reportedly intensified after a dispute with President Donald Trump over the controversial “Big Beautiful Bill.”
The bill, which Trump signed into law on Friday after passing through Congress, includes tax cuts, increased defense spending, and stricter immigration measures.
However, to fund these provisions, it also slashes essential social services, including Medicaid, the government health insurance program for low-income Americans.
According to Trump, Musk opposed the bill due to its impact on the electric vehicle (EV) mandate, potentially affecting Tesla’s sales.
Musk, however, denied the president’s claim, expressing disappointment with the bill during his final days as a presidential adviser.
The disagreement sparked a public spat between Musk and Trump on social media, with Musk accusing the former president of ingratitude, saying Trump wouldn’t have won the election without his support.
In response, Trump warned of serious consequences if Musk supported Democratic challengers against Republicans backing the legislation.
As the Senate prepared for a final vote on the bill, Musk threatened that lawmakers who supported it would lose their primaries next year.
