The federal government is set to launch Enugu Air, a state-owned airline, on July 7, with domestic flight operations to commence the same day.
Gatekeepers News reports that this was announced in an advertorial released on Sunday and signed by Obi Ozor, Enugu State Commissioner for Transport.
The government noted that the inauguration will be led by Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development.
It described the airline as a key component of Governor Peter Mbah’s integrated transport plan aimed at transforming Enugu into a major aviation hub in Nigeria.
Beginning with a fleet of three Embraer E170 and E190 aircraft, Enugu Air will initially operate a route connecting Enugu, Abuja, and Lagos before expanding to cities such as Port Harcourt, Owerri, Benin, and Kano.
The government stressed its commitment to innovation and sustainability in aviation, stating that Enugu Air is ready to redefine regional air travel and inviting Nigerians to be part of the historic launch.
