APC Closes National Secretariat To Honour Late President Buhari

All Progressives Congress (APC) has temporarily shut down its national secretariat in Abuja in honour of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Gatekeepers News reports that Buhari passed away on Sunday in a London clinic after a prolonged illness.

In a statement on Monday, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka said the closure was announced by the party’s Acting National Chairman, Bukar Dalori.

According to the statement, the secretariat will remain closed from Monday, July 14, and reopen on Thursday, July 17.

Morka called on party members to use the mourning period for sober reflection and prayers.

He said, “ “We urge party faithful to use this period of national mourning for quiet reflection and prayers for the repose of the soul of our departed leader.”

In a similar gesture, the National Assembly has suspended all legislative activities in Buhari’s honour.
A statement from Kamoru Ogunlana, Clerk of the National Assembly, confirmed the suspension.

He said, “ I am directed by the president of the senate and the speaker of the house of representatives to inform all members of the national assembly and the general public that all legislative activities are hereby suspended immediately until Tuesday, 22 July, 2025.”
