Senate Delegation Aborted Buhari Burial Trip Due To Airport Congestion— Ned Nwoko

Ned Nwoko, Senator representing Delta North, has revealed that the Senate delegation could not attend the burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari due to congestion at Katsina airport.

Gatekeepers News reports that Nwoko made the revelation in a post shared via his verified X account on Thursday.

Recall that Buhari passed away on Sunday in London after a prolonged illness and was laid to rest at his Daura residence in Katsina state on Tuesday.

Nwoko explained that the delegation encountered heavy air traffic and lacked a parking slot at Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Airport, forcing them to return to Abuja after several failed landing attempts.

He later joined Senate President Godswill Akpabio and other lawmakers on a condolence visit to Buhari’s family in Daura, where they offered prayers for the late president and sought Allah’s forgiveness and mercy on his behalf.

The delegation also visited the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Faruk Umar Faruk, and Governor Dikko Umar Radda to express sympathy to the Daura Emirate and the people of Katsina state.

Nwoko described Buhari as a man of integrity whose legacy in public service would remain impactful.

The post reads, “ On Tuesday, efforts to attend the burial rites of our late former president, Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, were thwarted due to severe air traffic and the unavailability of parking space at the Katsina airport.”

“After several failed landing attempts, we had no choice but to return to Abuja.”

“Yesterday, I was in Daura in the company of the president of the senate, his excellency senator Godswill Akpabio, and other distinguished colleagues to pay a condolence visit to the family of our departed leader.”

“We offered prayers for the peaceful repose of his soul and sought Almighty Allah’s mercy and forgiveness on his behalf. May he be granted Aljannah Firdaus.”

“ We proceeded to the palace of the emir of Daura, his royal highness Alhaji Faruk Umar Faruk, where we extended our condolences to the Daura Emirate and its people, who have lost a symbol of pride and honour – a man whose life was devoted to service, simplicity, and discipline.”

“President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR was a statesman of rare integrity. His contributions to Nigeria’s political and moral landscape will remain indelible.”
