2 Osun Senators Resign From PDP Over Internal Party Crisis

Francis Fadahunsi and Olubiyi Fadeyi, senators representing Osun East and Osun Central senatorial districts respectively, have resigned their membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Gatekeepers News reports that the senators cited unresolved internal conflicts within the party.

They announced their decision in separate letters addressed to their respective ward chairmen, both dated July 12.

Fadahunsi, in his letter to the PDP chairman of Ward 4 in Obokun Local Government Area, attributed his resignation to prolonged legal battles and deepening divisions that have affected the party since the 2023 general elections.

He explained that the decision was reached following consultations with his political allies, family members, and associates.

Similarly, Fadeyi, in his letter to the chairman of Ward 3 in Oke-Ejigbo, referenced the internal disputes and court cases at the national level.

According to him, the disputes had led to the formation of factions within the PDP. He also noted that his decision followed extensive consultations.

The senators however didn’t disclosed their next political move or which party they intend to join.

The development comes amid a wave of defections from PDP to All Progressives Congress (APC) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
