Aliyu Salisu, a citizen of Niger Republic, was rescued after being trapped for nearly 10 hours beneath the rubble of a collapsed three-storey building in the Lifecamp area of Abuja.
Gatekeepers News reports that the incident occurred around 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, according to a statement by the FCT Police Command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh.
Following a distress call, police swiftly mobilised a rescue operation, securing the scene and coordinating efforts with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the FCTA development control unit, and other emergency responders.
Salisu was successfully pulled from the debris around 4:00 a.m. on Sunday and was promptly taken to Cedar Crest Hospital in Gudu, where he is currently receiving treatment and responding well.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, Ajao Adewale, praised the professionalism of the rescue teams and expressed appreciation for the support provided by members of the community.
He also urged residents to stay vigilant and promptly report any emergencies or suspicious activities.
