A fuel-laden tanker explosion has claimed multiple lives in the Dan Magaji area of Zaria, Kaduna State.
Gatekeepers News reports that the incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. on Monday near Rochas Foundation School, along the Kaduna–Kano expressway bypass from Kwangila to Dan Magaji. The crash involved two tankers and two passenger-filled Golf cars.
It triggered a series of five explosions, sparking a massive blaze and sending thick plumes of smoke over the highway.
All occupants of the two cars were killed instantly, except for one driver who survived with severe burns.
Emergency responders, security personnel, and firefighters have since cordoned off the area.
Authorities have urged motorists and pedestrians to avoid the route as rescue and recovery operations continue. The exact death toll is yet to be determined.
