President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Thursday, August 14, for official visits to Japan and Brazil, with a stopover in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, en route to Asia.

Gatekeepers News reports that this was announced in atstement by Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to the president on information and strategy on Wednesday.

In Japan, the president will participate in the ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9), scheduled to take place in Yokohama from August 20 to 22.

The conference, themed “Co-create Innovative Solutions with Africa”, will address Africa’s economic transformation, private sector investment, innovation, and the development of a resilient and sustainable society that promotes human security, peace, and stability.

During his stay, Tinubu is expected to hold bilateral meetings with Japanese officials and engage with chief executives of companies with existing or prospective investments in Nigeria.

TICAD, launched in 1993 by the Japanese government and co-hosted by the United Nations, the UN Development Programme, the African Union Commission, and the World Bank, is held every three years, alternating between Japan and Africa.

Following the conclusion of TICAD9, Tinubu will travel to Brasilia, Brazil’s capital, for a two-day state visit from August 24 to 25, at the invitation of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

His engagements in Brazil will include a bilateral meeting with his host, participation in a business forum with Brazilian investors, and the signing of agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at strengthening cooperation between both countries.

The president will be accompanied by key ministers and senior government officials on the trip.
