Dangote Group has pledged full medical support and compensation for Ruth Otabor, sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Josephina Otabor popularly known as Phyna, following an accident involving its truck in Auchi, Edo State.
Gatekeepers News reports that Phyna had revealed on Instagram that the accident which occurred near Auchi Polytechnic, left her sister with one leg amputated, the other at risk, and additional head and hand injuries.
The reality TV star accused Dangote Group of prioritising removing the truck’s plate number over visiting the victim.
In a statement on Thursday, the company said senior officials and its insurance team immediately visited the accident scene, worked with law enforcement, and met the victim’s family at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to Otabor’s recovery, promising comprehensive medical care and appropriate compensation in line with Dangote Group’s welfare policy.
The statement reads, “Following the recent road accident in Auchi involving one of our trucks, which sadly resulted in injury to Mrs. Ruth Otabor, senior officials from Dangote Cement Pic, together with our Insurance team, promptly visited the scene, engaged with law enforcement authorities, and visited the victim and her family at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Edo State.”
