All Progressives Congress (APC) has fired back at Governors of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), dismissing their claims that the ruling party is headed for defeat in the 2027 general election.
Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement on Monday, APC’s publicity secretary, Felix Morka, said the opposition Governors were “projecting their own doomed fate” while trying to “mislead” Nigerians.
The party’s spokesman described it as “laughable” that leaders of a party in “crisis and decline” would accuse others of lacking direction.
He said, “The PDP has since collapsed and stands rejected by Nigerian. Rather than focus on rescuing their terminally ill party, the governors are wasting time hurling baseless accusations against the APC.”
According to him, APC’s victory in recent by-elections demonstrates that President Bola Tinubu’s policies are resonating with Nigerians and that the outcome reflects the people’s confidence in the ruling party.
He added, “It is infantile and irresponsible for PDP governors to hail democracy where they won and condemn it where they lost.”
“Victories and defeats in elections cannot become the measure of credibility in our democratic process.”
Morka further noted that APC secured wins in opposition-controlled states such as Zamfara, Adamawa, and Kano, despite violence allegedly sponsored by rival parties.
He urged the PDP governors to “eat the humble pie” and accept that Nigerians have rejected their party.
The spokesman said, “ These inept governors are in no position to dictate to Nigerians how to vote in 2027.”
“The PDP has offered no credible policies in the last three election cycles, and Nigerians have handed it repeated verdicts of failure. Wallowing in denial of the party’s expired political vitality and relevance is a reckless betrayal by PDP Governors of their highly disillusioned members still hanging hopelessly on straws of hope for an elusive miracle to turn the tide for their party.”
Morka stressed that opposition politics should move beyond “finger pointing at the APC” and instead present credible alternatives.
The APC spokesman also claimed that PDP governors are some of the “biggest beneficiaries of Tinubu’s economic reforms.”
He said, “Federal allocation to states has more than doubled under this administration, with N2 trillion shared as of July 2025, the highest in history.”
“Yet PDP governors continue to fail their citizens with poor governance,”
He maintained that Nigeria will not return to “the dark days of PDP’s misrule” when states struggled to pay salaries.
Morka said, “President Tinubu has set the country on a path of prosperity and will not be distracted by PDP’s antics.”
“Nigerians know the party that is working for their future, and they will not be deceived by opposition leaders who cannot manage their own states.”
He urged Nigerians to disregard “empty rhetoric” from PDP and instead continue to support the Tinubu administration.
