US President Donald Trump has withdrawn Secret Service protection for former Vice President Kamala Harris.

Gatekeepers News reports that this was announced in a directive, issued on Thursday in a letter to the Secretary of Homeland Security.

It reads, “You are hereby authorized to discontinue any security-related procedures previously authorized by Executive Memorandum, beyond those required by law, for the following individual, effective September 1, 2025: Former Vice President Kamala D. Harris.”

Under US law, former presidents are entitled to lifelong Secret Service protection, while former vice presidents receive only six months of coverage after leaving office, a period that expired for Harris on July 21.

According to CNN, in the final hours of his presidency, Joe Biden quietly signed several directives, including an extension of Harris’ protection for an additional year.

In response, Harris’ senior adviser, Kirsten Allen, told CNN, “ The Vice President is grateful to the United States Secret Service for their professionalism, dedication, and unwavering commitment to safety.”
