Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has expressed his profound sorrow over the death of Dr Solomon Ehigiator Arase.

Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement on Sunday, Okoebholo mourned the death of the former Inspector-General of Police and a distinguished figure hailing from Edo State.

The former IGP died onbSunday, August 31, 2025, at Cedarcrest Hospital in Abuja, after a brief illness at the age of 69.

Governor Okpebholo lauded the late Dr Arase as a reformer, patriot, and a dedicated public servant whose career was marked by significant achievements.

As the 18th Inspector-General of Police, Arase was noted for implementing reforms, enhancing professionalism, and fervently advocating for community policing.

The Governor highlighted Arase’s integrity and his remarkable service to the nation, particularly in his role as Chairman of the Police Service Commission, where he inspired many young officers.

Governor Okpebholo extended heartfelt condolences to Mrs Agharese Arase, the entire Arase family, and the Nigeria Police Force. He offered prayers for divine strength for the bereaved and for the soul of the departed to rest in peace.
