4 Vehicles Razed As Petrol Tanker Explodes In Lagos

A petrol-laden tanker went up in flames on Sunday at Iyana-Isolo, along Oshodi corridor of Lagos State, after the driver reportedly lost control and the vehicle overturned.

Gatekeepers News reports that the explosion ignited at least four nearby trucks that were parked close to the scene, resulting in extensive damage.

Emergency responders, including personnel from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the Fire and Rescue Service, the Nigeria Police, and the Neighbourhood Safety Corps, quickly mobilised to prevent the fire from spreading further.

Authorities linked the incident to overspeeding by the tanker driver, which caused him to lose control before the vehicle toppled. Fortunately, no lives were lost.

LASTMA operatives, under the directive of their operational command, coordinated with other emergency agencies to bring the inferno under control.

Additional teams were deployed from surrounding zones to reinforce the containment effort.

Swift intervention also ensured that traffic was diverted away from the affected stretch, preventing more damage and protecting road users.
