Troops Kill Terrorists – Arrest 85 Suspects – Rescue 66 Victims In August— DHQ

Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced that military operations across the country in August led to the elimination of several terrorists, the arrest of 85 suspects, and the rescue of 66 kidnapped victims.

Gatekeepers News reports that according to Maj.-Gen. Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, troops in the North East under Operation Hadin Kai eliminated numerous Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters, apprehended 15 suspects including collaborators, a gunrunner, and a drug trafficker, and freed eight abducted individuals.

In the North West, security forces conducted operations in Zamfara, Sokoto, Kaduna, Kebbi, and Katsina, resulting in the neutralisation of armed groups, the arrest of 23 suspects, and the rescue of 24 victims.

In the North Central region, troops under Operation Enduring Peace killed terrorists, detained seven criminals, and rescued two kidnap victims.

Another suspect was intercepted in Bassa LGA with N3 million in ransom cash. Similarly, Operation Whirl Stroke in Benue, Nasarawa, Taraba, Kogi, and the FCT led to the arrest of nine extremists and the release of 13 captives.

Kangye noted that the joint operations also yielded significant recoveries, including arms, ammunition, vehicles, motorcycles, and explosives.

The DHQ emphasised that the armed forces remain committed to intensifying coordinated operations to tackle insecurity, restore peace, and protect lives and property nationwide.
