The Osun State Government has rolled out Imole Wi-Fi, a free public internet service aimed at bridging the digital divide and supporting socio-economic growth across the state.
Gatekeepers News reports that the initiative launched by the Office of Innovation, Science, Technology, and Digital Economy, is part of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s wider agenda to promote digital inclusion and expand access to online resources.
Currently, the service is available at key locations in Osogbo, including the Osun State Library, Osun Mall, Alphastart Hub, Salvation Army Middle School, Osogbo Grammar School, and the Ministry of Innovation, Science, Technology, and Digital Economy.
Governor Adeleke described the project as a transformative step.
“Imole Wi-Fi is a gateway to opportunity. With this public digital infrastructure, we are cutting barriers, connecting people, and driving growth across every sector of Osun’s economy,” he said.
Special Adviser on Innovation, Science, and Technology, Azeez Badmus, said the initial rollout would be expanded to more areas.
“This is just the first step. As we expand Imole Wi-Fi, more government services and sector-specific tools will follow, ensuring that every resident benefits from Osun’s digital future,” he noted.
According to the state government, the Wi-Fi service will particularly benefit students, job seekers, entrepreneurs, farmers, healthcare workers, and local communities by providing access to online education, employment opportunities, agricultural information, health services, and improved channels for public safety communication.
