Aero Contractors Refunded Passengers N257m Between January And August 2025— NCAA

Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has disclosed that Aero Contractors refunded passengers a total of N257 million from January to August 2025.

Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement on Friday, NCAA noted that refunds increased by 137.4 percent compared to last year, reflecting stronger adherence to passenger refund requirements.

It stated, “Total refund paid January – August 2025 = 257,195,724.39 naira, compared to 108,308,037.40 naira over the same period 2024 and 32,766,652.30 naira in 2023.”

The authority also gave details on expenses relating to accommodation. It stated, “HOTAC (hotel accommodation) 2025: Total amount reported from January till July 2025 = 6,083,229 naira. (verified records with Cocos Hotel, Grand Cubana Hotel, Abuja, NOCY Castle Hotel, Kim Royal Hotel, JC42 Apartment (Asaba), Mayor & Diplomat Hotel, Lagos.”

“The figures above show that there is a remarkable improvement in compliance with Part 19 of the NCAA Regulations 2023.
While acknowledging the peculiar challenges of our operating environment, the Authority will continue to protect the rights of all stakeholders.”

The reminder comes after NCAA had, in December 2024, warned airlines about sanctions for delayed refunds.

Michael Achimugu, the director of public affairs and consumer protection, emphasised that carriers must comply with refund rules outlined in Part 19 of the NCAA Regulations 2023.

Achimugu explained that passengers who paid with cash should get immediate refunds in cash, while those who made electronic payments must receive refunds within 14 days through the same payment channels.
