The Lagos State Government says night-time repair works will begin on Ozumba Mbadiwe Road, from Bonny Camp junction, between Monday, September 15 and Sunday, September 21, 2025.
Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement on Sunday, the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said the repairs will be carried out nightly between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. to reduce disruption to traffic.
“The repair works will take place at night from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. to ensure minimal impact on traffic,” the statement read in part.
The state government appealed to motorists using the corridor to cooperate with traffic management officers and exercise patience during the repair period.
Officials noted that scheduling the works at night is a deliberate measure to ease congestion for daytime commuters and improve traffic operations along the busy route.
Ongoing Bridge Repairs
The government also reminded road users of the 110-day emergency repair programme on the Oworonshoki/Third Axial Bridge, which started on May 6 and will end on September 23, 2025.
The project is being executed in eight phases. The first four phases (May 6 – July 14) targeted the inbound carriageway toward the Third Mainland Bridge, while the final four phases (July 15 – September 23) focus on the outbound carriageway.
The repairs have necessitated partial lane closures, making alternative routes vital to avoid heavy delays. Motorists are advised to plan their journeys using diversions such as Eko Bridge, Funsho Williams Avenue, Ikorodu Road, Ojota Slip Road, and Anthony–Oshodi links.
For travellers heading to or from Mowe and adjoining communities, the government recommended Funsho Williams Avenue and Eko Bridge. Those from Ikeja can connect through Maryland to Funsho Williams Avenue before proceeding via Eko Bridge or Outer Marina.
