World football governing body FIFA has launched disciplinary proceedings against the South African Football Association (SAFA) and Bafana Bafana midfielder Teboho Mokoena over alleged breaches of its regulations during the ongoing World Cup qualifiers.
Gatekeepers News reports that in a letter dated September 15, 2025, and addressed to SAFA, FIFA confirmed that both the association and the player face charges, including the alleged fielding of an ineligible player.
The case has been referred to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee, which has given SAFA and Mokoena six days to submit their defense.
