EPL: Arsenal Edge Newcastle With Late Comeback At St. James’ Park

Arsenal secured a 2-1 victory over Newcastle United in their English Premier League fixture on Sunday, thanks to two late goals in the closing stages of the match.

Gatekeepers News reports that Nick Woltemade had put Newcastle ahead in the 34th minute with a header, and the Gunners also saw a first-half penalty overturned by VAR.

However, Arsenal rallied in the second half, with substitute Mikel Merino heading home from a corner in the 84th minute to level the score.

The visitors completed the turnaround six minutes into added time when Gabriel Magalhães rose highest to convert another corner, sealing all three points for Mikel Arteta’s side.

With the result, Arsenal climbed to second on the table with 13 points from six matches, two points behind leaders Liverpool.

Elsewhere, Aston Villa claimed their first win of the season after beating Fulham 3-1 at Villa Park. Nigerian internationals Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey featured in the starting lineup for Fulham, while Samuel Chukwueze came on as a late substitute.
