Crystal Palace ended Liverpool’s perfect start to the season with a dramatic 2-1 win at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
Gatekeepers News reports that former Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah scored the winning goal in the 97th minute after Federico Chiesa had pulled Liverpool level late in the game. Ismaila Sarr had earlier given Palace the lead with a close-range strike from a corner in the ninth minute.
Liverpool looked set to extend their unbeaten run when Chiesa volleyed home in the 87th minute, but Nketiah’s stoppage-time finish sealed victory for Palace. The result lifts the FA Cup winners to second place with 12 points, three behind league leaders Liverpool.
Elsewhere, Manchester United lost 3-1 at Brentford after conceding two early goals. Bruno Fernandes missed a penalty that could have given them a chance to equalise. The defeat was United’s third in six matches.
Chelsea also lost at home, suffering a 3-1 defeat to Brighton despite playing with ten men. Meanwhile, Manchester City produced a strong second-half performance, scoring four times, including two late goals from Erling Haaland, to beat Burnley 5-1.
