US President Donald Trump has signed a memorandum directing the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) to crack down on what he described as emerging threats of domestic terrorism tied to anti-Christian, anti-capitalist, and anti-American ideologies.
Gatekeepers News reports that the memo, signed on September 25, identifies these views as “common threads” of domestic terrorism, alongside movements supporting the overthrow of the US government or espousing extremism on migration, race, and gender.
“These movements portray foundational American principles (e.g., support for law enforcement and border control) as ‘fascist’ to justify and encourage acts of violent revolution,” the memo states.
“This ‘anti-fascist’ lie has become the organizing rallying cry used by domestic terrorists to wage a violent assault against democratic institutions, constitutional rights, and fundamental American liberties.”
Trump said the JTTF would investigate “potential” crimes tied to radicalisation, recruitment, and support for such ideologies. The task force has also been mandated to monitor NGOs, US citizens abroad, and individuals or groups with links to foreign influence networks suspected of money laundering or financing domestic terrorism.
The president urged investigators to prioritise cases involving the funding or facilitation of terrorist activities.
Trump’s order comes amid renewed global debate over alleged rising anti-Christian sentiment in Nigeria. Recent online discussions, especially among Nigerian and American users, revived claims that more Christians have been killed in Nigeria this year than Palestinians in Gaza since 2025 began.
