Tinubu Orders Probe Into Killing Of Arise TV Anchor Somtochukwu Maduagwu

President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, a news anchor and producer with Arise Television, who was killed during an armed robbery at her residence in the Katampe district of Abuja on Sunday.

Gatekeepers News reports in a statement on Tuesday signed by his special adviser on information and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Maduagwu as “a promising professional journalist whose life was cut short in a cruel and condemnable manner.”

Tinubu directed security agencies to swiftly investigate the incident and ensure that those behind the killing are brought to justice.

“Security and law enforcement agencies should conduct a quick and thorough investigation into the incident and ensure that the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to justice without delay,” he said.

The President commiserated with Maduagwu’s family, colleagues at Arise Television, and the Nigerian media community, urging them to find strength in the legacy she left behind. He also reiterated his administration’s commitment to protecting citizens.

“My administration remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all Nigerians and will continue to strengthen measures aimed at combating crime in all its forms,” Tinubu added.
