The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Borno State, at the weekend assured that it will not impose candidates or engage in favouritism in the upcoming Local Government Council elections scheduled for December 13th.
Gatekeepers News reports that the APC said the party will ensure the conduct of free, fair and credible Chairmanship and Councellorship primary elections, promising that all stages of the process will be transparent.
The Chairman of the Party in Borno State, Hon Bello Ayuba disclosed this during a press conference held at the party secretariat in Maiduguri, the state capital.
According to Hon Ayuba, the APC will continue to encourage processes that will lead to the emergence of popular and acceptable candidates that will win elections with ease for the pary .
” We have made it abundantly clear that the APC does not have interest in any particular aspirant . Neither the State Governor , Prof Babagana Zulum nor the party leaders are backing any aspirant- there would be a level playing field for all aspirants” Hon Ayuba said .
The APC Chairman also revealed that the party has slashed by 50 percent, its fees for nomination forms to allow for more participation of women and People Living With Dsabilities (PLWD) in the council polls.
Hon Ayuba told reporters that the Borno APC , in its quest ensure increased participation at the grassroot level, “the pary came up with a reduced price of N2 Million and N500, 000 for Chairmanship and Councellorship respectively.”
” We were able to compare the prices of nomination forms from different States in the country before we arrived at a very reduced price for our people ” The pary Chairman said, adding that ” our aim is allow for wider participation and inclusivity.”
