Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has denied rumours of a 2027 presidential ambition, affirming his full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration till 2031.

Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement on Friday in Abuja, the Minister’s spokesperson, Lere Olayinka, described the claims which originally circulated by an unnamed online outlet as baseless fabrications from idle minds with no meaningful contribution to national progress.

Olayinka said, “For Wike, it’s Tinubu till 2031. He is not running for president. His focus remains on implementing the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda within the FCT.”

He accused the rumour sponsors of deliberately attempting to discredit the Minister, adding that Wike operates transparently and stands by his word.

While speaking at the flag-off of the Collector Road C01 project in Abuja’s Institution and Research District, Wike urged citizens to engage government constructively instead of spreading misinformation online.

He praised the Body of Benchers for following due process in addressing their concerns, noting that their respectful appeal to President Tinubu led to immediate road construction approval under emergency procurement.

Wike said, “Social media noise doesn’t yield results. Constructive dialogue does. What you can’t get through the door, you won’t get through the window.”

He highlighted that the new road network will serve the Body of Benchers, Nile University, Baze University, and the surrounding communities. Expressing surprise at the institutions’ locations, he remarked that governance should focus on addressing genuine needs rather than reacting to political distractions.

The Minister further revealed that the project launch marked the 17th consecutive day of infrastructural development across the FCT, with plans for another groundbreaking at the Nigerian Law School, Bwari, where new 300-bed hostels for male and female students will be constructed.

Wike reiterated that while no administration can solve all of Nigeria’s problems, President Tinubu remains committed to setting the country on a sustainable path of progress.

He said, “Even if I serve for 500 years, new challenges will still emerge. The goal is to do your best within your time and capacity.”

Clarifying the purpose of a recent southern PDP meeting, Olayinka dismissed claims linking it to Wike’s supposed presidential ambition, explaining that it focused on internal party matters concerning leadership positions.

He reaffirmed that the Minister’s current mission is to support President Tinubu’s re-election and transform Abuja into a model capital through the Renewed Hope Agenda.
