Akinloye Tofowomo, Founder of Akin Shuga, a popular live band in Nigeria, is dead.
Gatekeepers News reports that the deceased’s family in a statement on Monday, announced that the music maestro died in New Brunswick, Canada. He is survived by his wife, children, siblings, and mother.
The family expressed deep sorrow and acceptance of God’s will, describing Tofowomo as much more than a musician. He was remembered as a guardian of rhythm, culture, and stagecraft whose career spanned over three decades.
According to them, through his artistry and mentorship, he redefined live band performance with grace, passion, and excellence, earning admiration across Nigeria and beyond.
While mourning his loss, the family requested privacy and quiet reflection as they navigate this painful period. They noted that details of memorial arrangements will be announced later.
The family further expressed appreciation to everyone who has offered prayers, tributes, and words of comfort. According to the family, Akiin Shuga’s enduring legacy will continue through the Shuga Band and Shuga Entertainment.
