APC Commends Okpebholo’s One Year Of Impactful Leadership

Edo chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended Governor Monday Okpebholo for a year of purposeful and people-centered leadership that has brought renewed hope and tangible progress to the state.

Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement signed by Barr. Peter Uwadiae-Igbinigie, the party’s Publicity Secretary, APC said Governor Okpebholo’s first year in office has shown that governance, when anchored on compassion, competence, and accountability, can transform lives and communities.

The party noted that the administration’s achievements are evident across the five pillars of the SHINE Agenda — Security, Human Capital Development, Infrastructure, New Economic Opportunities, and Environmental Sustainability.

According to the statement, the government’s efforts in strengthening security through collaboration with federal agencies, local vigilante groups, and traditional rulers have led to safer communities and a reduction in violent crimes. The administration has also expanded social welfare programmes targeted at widows, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.

In education and healthcare, the Governor has initiated reforms to rebuild the state’s human capital base, including school renovations, teacher recruitment, and the introduction of digital learning tools. The health sector has also received renewed investment, with the rehabilitation of primary health centres and the recruitment of additional medical personnel.

On infrastructure, the APC highlighted the rehabilitation of long-neglected roads, rural connectivity projects linking farms to urban markets, and industrial partnerships aimed at boosting manufacturing and agro-processing. These efforts, it said, have rekindled investor confidence and created new employment opportunities.

The statement further noted that Okpebholo’s administration has opened up new economic opportunities through agricultural revitalization, youth empowerment, and small business support. Thousands of young people have reportedly benefited from training and entrepreneurship programmes across the state.

In the area of environmental sustainability, the party said the government has revitalized the Waste Management Board, improved flood control systems, and implemented urban renewal projects that have given major cities a cleaner and more organized outlook.

Describing Okpebholo as “a Governor for the people,” APC praised his open-door style of leadership, citing regular town hall meetings and stakeholder consultations as proof of his commitment to inclusive governance.

It added, “The people of Edo are witnessing a new era where governance is about action, not rhetoric — where promises are matched with results, and leadership is measured by its impact on everyday lives.”

The party reaffirmed its confidence in the Governor’s leadership, expressing optimism that the coming years would consolidate the gains of the SHINE Agenda and further position Edo State as a model of progressive governance in Nigeria.

The statement concluded, “Governor Okpebholo has proven that with vision, integrity, and the right team, government can indeed work for the people. Edo is SHINING again brighter, stronger, and more united than ever.”
