The mother of Imisi Ayanwale, the winner of Big Brother Naija Season 10, has sparked fresh public discussion about a worsening family rift after she broke down in an emotional TikTok video.
Gatekeepers News reports that in the video, she thanked her friends, the Ebute-Metta community in Lagos, and her church members for supporting Imisi throughout the reality show. She also addressed allegations that she neglected her daughter before her rise to fame.
“I want to sincerely appreciate all those who stood by me during Imisi’s time on Big Brother. My friends, everyone in Ebute-Metta, the church, I am so grateful. I am at my younger one’s place in Ajah — some people do not want us to come and visit them,” she said.
Reacting to online claims that she failed in her parental duties, she insisted she had always supported Imisi.
“…people who said I did not take care of my child, thank you all for what you said. I was running around to ensure that my daughter wins, that she should become someone in life, so that she can take me, her mother, out of poverty.
“…she said she does not want to see me wherever she is — is it that serious? There is still a lot to talk about.”
She also alleged she was sidelined during the show’s grand finale.
“On the day of the BBNaija finale, I was not even told that it was the final. It was around few minutes to 4 pm that they called me to start dressing up, and that I should wear something presentable. I was even taken somewhere else initially,” she said.
Imisi had previously spoken on the show about her difficult upbringing, recalling how she was sent out of her home at age 12 — an ordeal that led to her being raped in a church storeroom where she sought refuge.
