Ribadu Holds Talks With US Defence Secretary – Top General Over Trump’s Threat

National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu has engaged in discussions with United States Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth following President Donald Trump’s threat of military action in Nigeria.

Gatekeepers News reports that Trump had declared he would direct US Department of War to deploy troops into Nigeria with guns-a-blazing to wipe out the Islamic Terrorists who are behind the alleged Christian genocide in the country.

Acting on the instructions of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Ribadu led a high-level Nigerian delegation to the US to address the matter.

The team included Bianca Ojukwu, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; Kayode Egbetokun, Inspector General of Police; Lateef Fagbemi, Attorney General of the Federation; and Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Defence Staff.

On Wednesday, the delegation also met with Riley Moore, a member of the US House of Representatives known for raising concerns over alleged Christian persecution in Nigeria.

According to ABC News, two US defense officials confirmed that Ribadu met with Hegseth, with Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, present at the Thursday evening session.

The meeting, however, was not listed on the public schedules of Hegseth or Caine, and Ribadu’s visit was not open to journalists. The discussions coincided with a congressional hearing on alleged Christian persecution in Nigeria.

During the hearing, Jonathan Pratt, senior official at the US State Department’s Bureau of African Affairs, confirmed that the Nigerian delegation would also meet with officials from the State Department and Department of War.

Pratt added that the State Department would collaborate with the Nigerian government on measures, including the creation of a task force, to address the alleged Christian genocide.
