Ghanaian police have arrested Victor Benjamin Fajemirokun, a Nigerian wanted in connection with the murder of a Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) official, Lasisi Funmilayo, and her daughter, Sewa, in Ogun State.

Gatekeepers News reports that George Ohene-Boadi, Regional Commander of the Eastern South Regional Police Command, revealed at a press briefing that the 36-year-old suspect fled to Ghana to evade arrest by Nigerian security forces.

The police launched a swift operation after receiving intelligence that Fajemirokun was hiding at a friend’s residence in Akutia.

Ohene-Boadi said, “The suspect was wanted by the Nigerian police, but he ran to Ghana to hide with his friends.”

“The Eastern South Regional Police Command quickly acted on the information and arrested him. He is now in custody as arrangements are being made to hand him over to Nigerian authorities.”

Reports indicate that Funmilayo and her daughter traveled with Fajemirokun to Osun State on November 2. Nigerian investigators are probing the circumstances surrounding the killings, which allegedly involved a self-proclaimed herbalist.

Undercover operations in Osun and Ekiti States led to the arrest of two additional suspects, who provided crucial information that helped recover the victims’ remains from a secluded bush area.

The Ghanaian police confirmed ongoing collaboration with Nigerian security agencies to ensure the completion of the investigation and swift prosecution of all involved.
