Suspected bandits attacked Yankamaye village in Tsanyawa LGA of Kano State late Saturday night.
Gatekeepers News reports that an elderly woman was killed and three other residents were kidnapped during the attack.
Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the incident and said officers had moved into the area to pursue those responsible.
Witnesses recounted that the attackers rode into the village on motorcycles, stopping at the outskirts before advancing on foot to avoid being noticed early.
One resident, who requested anonymity, described the killing as tragic. He said, “She pleaded with them not to take her son. They refused to listen to her. They shot her and took the young man away.”
The gunmen also stormed another home, abducting two women, one of whom is the sister-in-law of the ward councillor.
