All eight governorship hopefuls of the All Progressives Congress in Osun have agreed to back a consensus candidate ahead of Saturday’s primary.
Gatekeepers News reports that the decision came after a private meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa on Monday night.
In a joint statement, the aspirants pledged loyalty to the party’s choice and said they would fully support whoever emerges through the consensus arrangement.
Those who signed include Benedict Olugboyega Alabi, Dotun Babayemi, Akin Ogunbiyi, Babajide Omoworare, Kunle Adegoke, Babatunde Hareter Oralusi, Mulikat Abiola Jimoh and Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.
The statement reads, “unanimously agree to abide by the party’s decision to nominate a consensus candidate for affirmation at the APC Primary Election scheduled for Saturday, 13th December 2025.”
“ We accept the outcome of the party-led nomination process in good faith, and pledge our total support to the candidate so nominated and affirmed.”
The aspirants further committed themselves to unity within the party and promised not to take any action that could undermine the process.
The meeting was attended by APC national chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, Imo Governor Hope Uzodimma, and Adegboyega Oyetola, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy.
