Bola Oyebamiji, former managing director of Nigeria Inland Waterways Authority, has secured governorship ticket of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State through a consensus primary.

Gatekeepers News reports that Oyebamiji was adopted at the party’s primary election held in Osogbo, the state capital, where delegates affirmed his emergence through a voice vote.

He was nominated by Kunle Adegoke, one of the aspirants, and the motion was seconded by Babajide Omoworare.

Monday Okpebholo, Governor of Edo State and chairman of APC primary election committee, formally announced Oyebamiji as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2026 Osun election.

Ahead of the primary, eight APC aspirants had agreed to support a consensus candidate following a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Those who endorsed the agreement were Benedict Olugboyega Alabi, Dotun Babayemi, Akin Ogunbiyi, Babajide Omoworare, Kunle Adegoke, Babatunde Hareter Oralusi, Mulikat Abiola Jimoh, and Bola Oyebamiji.

The statement reads, “That we unanimously agree to abide by the party’s decision to nominate a consensus candidate for affirmation at the APC Primary Election scheduled for Saturday, 13th December 2025.”

Earlier, on December 5, APC screening committee disqualified Iyiola Omisore, former national secretary of the party, alongside six other aspirants from participating in the primary.

The committee said the affected aspirants failed to submit evidence of sponsorship by at least five fully registered and financially up-to-date party members from each local government area, as stipulated by the party’s constitution.
