King Charles III has revealed positive developments in his health nearly two years after being diagnosed with cancer, saying his treatment plan will be scaled back.

Gatekeepers News reports that in a video message released on Friday, the monarch said his condition has improved following early detection and medical care.

The king said, “Indeed, today, l am able to share with you the good news that thanks to early diagnosis, effective intervention and adherence to doctors’ orders, my own schedule of cancer treatment can be reduced in the new year.”

He described the progress as a deeply personal milestone and said it reflects the major advances achieved in cancer treatment in recent times.

Buckingham Palace first disclosed the king’s cancer diagnosis in February 2024, weeks after he was treated for an enlarged prostate. The palace did not specify the type of cancer involved.

Reflecting on his experience, Charles said he had gained a new appreciation for the “community of care that surrounds every cancer patient”.

He added, “But I have also learned something that troubles me deeply. At least nine million people in our country are not up to date with the cancer screenings available to them.”

“That is at least nine million opportunities for early diagnosis being missed. Early diagnosis, quite simply, saves lives.”
