Aliko Dangote, chairman of Dangote Group, has released what he described as a detailed breakdown of funds allegedly spent by Farouk Ahmed, chief executive officer of Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), on the overseas education of his children.

Gatekeepers News reports that in a paid newspaper advertisement published on Tuesday, Dangote claimed that about $5 million was expended on the secondary school education of four of Ahmed’s children in Switzerland over a six-year period.

The disclosure followed Dangote’s earlier allegation that the NMDPRA boss paid millions of dollars to Swiss schools, an action he described on Monday as “economic sabotage and corruption”.

According to the advert, the four children: Faisal Farouk, Farouk Jr., Ashraf Farouk, and Farhana Farouk attended several elite institutions, including Montreux School, Aiglon College, Institut Le Rosey, and La Garenne International School.

Dangote outlined estimated costs covering tuition, accommodation, air travel, and general upkeep. He stated that the average annual cost per child was about $200,000, bringing the combined yearly expense for the four children to roughly $800,000.

Over six years, he estimated total living expenses and travel at about $1.2 million per child, amounting to approximately $4.8 million altogether.

The business mogul said these figures put the total cost of secondary education and upkeep for the four children at around $5 million.

He also included figures for their tertiary education, claiming that university-level tuition and related expenses averaged $125,000 per year over four years. According to him, this translated to about $500,000 per child, or roughly $2 million for all four.

Providing a specific example, Dangote wrote, “Faisal just finished 2025 Harvard MBA at $150,000 and $60,000 for upkeep, tickets and other incidentals. Total = $210,000 spent in 2025 for Faisal’s MBA.”

Dangote stated that the disclosures raised serious public interest concerns, insisting that Nigerians deserve clarity on the source of funds allegedly used by a public official, especially “while many parents in his home state of Sokoto cannot afford to pay N10,000 school fees for their children and wards”.
