The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced plans to formally receive Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, into the party next month.
Gatekeepers News reports that the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, disclosed this on Wednesday after a well-attended stakeholders’ meeting in Jos.
According to Yilwatda, the party is preparing a colourful reception to mark the governor’s defection, noting that his decision to join the APC signifies that “the entire state is now APC with his coming on board.”
He said Mutfwang’s entry into the party would further consolidate and strengthen the APC’s presence in Plateau State.
“I am interested in everybody that matters in this country who wants to join the party,” Yilwatda said, adding that he would ensure the APC “wins future elections from top to bottom.”
Also speaking at the meeting, former Plateau State Governor and Senator representing Plateau South, Simon Lalong, commended party members for their resilience, faithfulness and continued support for the APC in the state.
Lalong dismissed concerns and speculations surrounding recent political developments, describing such fears as unnecessary.
In his welcome remarks, the APC State Chairman, Rufus Bature, pledged that party members would continue to respect and abide by the decisions of their leaders.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the party’s Council of Elders in the state, Ambassador Danladi Wuyep, expressed satisfaction with the large turnout of members at the meeting while delivering the vote of thanks.
