Grammy Award-winning Afrobeats star Burna Boy has reportedly donated $100,000 to popular activist and social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as Very Dark Man, to support vulnerable Nigerians.

Gatekeepers News reports that Very Dark Man disclosed the donation on December 26 through a post on his Facebook page, stating that the funds, estimated at ₦150 million, would be used to assist two categories of disadvantaged people across the country.

According to him, half of the money will be allocated to securing the release of inmates who have remained in correctional centres due to their inability to pay minor fines, while the remaining portion will be used to settle outstanding medical bills of patients receiving treatment in government-owned hospitals.

He explained that ₦75 million has been set aside specifically for prisoners, many of whom, he noted, are detained over relatively small fines ranging from ₦30,000 to ₦300,000. The other ₦75 million, he added, will go toward easing the burden of patients who cannot afford to clear their hospital bills.

Very Dark Man further revealed that the process would involve proper documentation and data collection across all 36 states to ensure transparency and equitable distribution of the funds. He said the money is currently in his custody while arrangements are being made with relevant authorities.

Expressing gratitude to the singer, he publicly thanked Burna Boy for the trust and support, describing the donation as a life-changing intervention for many Nigerians.

He said, “Thank you Burna Boy for this kind gesture. God bless you. And thank you for trusting me with this money, believing that I will carry out this project.”

Burna Boy, known for his global music success and occasional philanthropic gestures, has yet to comment publicly on the donation.
