Kaduna Dedicates 15% Of Budget To Health – Assures Workers Of Promotions

Kaduna State Government has announced that 15 percent of its 2026 budget has been set aside for the health sector, alongside assurances that promotion backlogs affecting health workers will be addressed.

Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement released on Sunday, Ibraheem Musa, chief press secretary to Governor Uba Sani, said the administration plans to review all pending promotion cases across health-related agencies in the state within the year.

According to the statement, the Commissioner for Health, Umma Ahmad, said the Governor has consistently shown commitment to healthcare as a basic right of citizens.

She noted that the administration’s focus is not limited to improving hospitals and primary healthcare centres but also includes the welfare of workers who keep the system running.

She said, “The ministry will evaluate all cases of promotions in all its parastatals, involving all personnel in the health sector. Those who are deserving will be promoted.”

Ahmad added that since Governor Sani assumed office, workers’ welfare has remained a key priority of the administration.

She recalled that health workers across the state had previously praised the government for implementing the Consolidated Health Salary Structure and the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure.

She said the Kaduna State chapter of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives expressed its appreciation in a letter dated September 2, 2025.

The letter, signed by the association’s state chairman and secretary, described the implementation of the salary structures as a singular act of magnanimity and fairness that restored hope among nurses.

The commissioner also noted that the Kaduna chapter of Nigerian Medical Association, through its chairman, Hassan Baba Salihu, had similarly commended the Governor for approving the salary structures for medical doctors, describing the move as a boost to morale within the health sector.
