Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero, has awarded an honorary doctorate to Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State in recognition of his contributions to development.
Gatekeepers News reports that the honour was conferred during the institution’s joint maiden convocation ceremony held in Kebbi State.
The university said the award was approved by its senate as part of efforts to recognise individuals whose work has positively impacted society.
In a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, the university said Governor Lawal was awarded a Doctor of Science degree, honoris causa, for his contributions to education, healthcare, infrastructure, economic growth, and workers’ welfare.
The university added that the recognition is expected to encourage the Governor to sustain his commitment to public service and development in Zamfara State.
The maiden convocation also showcased the university’s academic progress since its establishment, with records showing that thousands of undergraduate and postgraduate students have graduated over the years.
