The Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has extended the deadline for the ongoing recruitment of 50,000 police constables by two weeks.
Gatekeepers News reports that according to a statement signed by the Head of Protocol and Public Affairs of the PSC, Mr Torty Njoku Kalu, the online application portal, which opened on December 15, 2025, will now close on February 8, 2026.
Kalu explained that the decision followed the receipt of more than 400,000 applications nationwide, as well as a review that revealed notable disparities in participation among states.
The PSC disclosed that states such as Adamawa, Benue and Kaduna recorded high application numbers, while Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi and Anambra had comparatively low submissions.
According to the commission, the extension is aimed at ensuring equitable representation of all states in the recruitment exercise.
The PSC urged all eligible Nigerians, particularly applicants from states with low application rates, to apply through the official recruitment portal at npfapplication.psc.gov.ng before the new deadline.
It also called on state governments, local government councils, socio-cultural organisations, religious bodies, community leaders and other stakeholders to mobilise and sensitise qualified candidates within their areas.
The PSC and the Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed their commitment to conducting a fair, transparent and credible recruitment process.
