Dr Bello Suleiman, the immediate past Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Federal Teaching Hospital (FTH), Katsina, is dead.
Gatekeepers News reports that Dr Suleiman, a paediatrician, reportedly died on Saturday after a brief illness.
The Committee of Chief Medical Directors and Medical Directors of Federal Tertiary Hospitals in Nigeria (CCMDFTH) described his death as shocking, devastating, and a great loss to the nation.
This was contained in a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday and signed by its Chairman, Prof Saad Ahmed; Secretary-General, Dr Pokop Bupwatda; and Public Relations Officer, Dr Philip Ugbodaga.
“Dr Suleiman was a colossus in the medical field and a consummate leader whose commitment to transforming healthcare delivery in Nigeria was unparalleled. As a member of the Committee of CMDs and MDs, he displayed exceptional dedication, integrity, and passion for service, leaving behind an unblemished record that will continue to inspire generations yet unborn,” the statement said.
“His contributions to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Katsina, and the Nigerian health sector were immeasurable. The CCMDFTH mourns this great loss, as he departed at a time when he had just completed his eight-year tenure, and his expertise and guidance were still much needed,” it added.
The committee extended its heartfelt sympathy to his family, the management and staff of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Katsina, the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), the Katsina State Government, and the entire nation.
It also prayed that Almighty Allah grants his soul eternal rest and gives his family and colleagues the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
