Her appointment comes shortly after she was conferred with an honorary Doctor of Humanity (Honoris Causa) during the university’s 15th convocation ceremony, which took place on February 18, 2026. According to the university, her new role will involve presiding over convocation ceremonies, conferring degrees on graduating students, and serving as the ceremonial head and moral authority of the institution.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olalekan Asikhia, described her appointment as a defining moment for the university, noting that it reflects a commitment to blending academic excellence with strong ethical values.
University officials expressed confidence that her influence, experience in leadership, and dedication to education and mentorship would strengthen the institution’s vision and expand its national and global profile.
The management added that her emergence as Chancellor is expected to inspire students and staff while reinforcing the university’s focus on character-driven education.
