President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a one-year extension of the prohibition on the export of raw shea nuts, pushing the deadline from February 26, 2026, to February 25, 2027.
Gatekeepers News reports that the decision was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
According to Onanuga, the extension reflects the administration’s resolve to drive industrial growth, boost local processing, and deepen value addition within the country, in line with the objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He noted that the policy is aimed at encouraging domestic industries involved in shea butter production, creating jobs, and enhancing Nigeria’s competitiveness in the global shea value chain.
