The University of Lagos Distance Learning Institute (DLI) has cautioned prospective applicants to beware of fraudulent admission agents posing as officials of the institution to defraud unsuspecting students.

Gatekeepers Newreports that in a statement issued on Monday, the institute said it has no affiliation with external admission agents, consultants, or representatives claiming to act on its behalf in the processing of applications or admissions.

“All applications to the institute must be submitted exclusively through the official University of Lagos application portal,” the statement read.

The institute added that the approved application fee of ₦20,000 is payable only through the official portal.

It warned applicants not to make payments into personal or third-party bank accounts, stressing that no external agents or individuals are authorised to represent the Distance Learning Institute in admission matters.

“Any dealings with such persons are strictly at the applicant’s own risk,” the statement added.

The institute also urged prospective students to rely solely on official communication channels for accurate information about its admission process.
