The Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, has announced plans by the All Progressives Congress> (APC) to mobilise 10 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the South-West ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Gatekeepers News reports that Bamidele, who also chairs the Ekiti APC 2026 Governorship Election Campaign Council, made the disclosure on Tuesday during the inauguration of the 57-member Ekiti Governorship Campaign Council in Ado‑Ekiti.
He said the June 20 governorship election in Ekiti State would serve as a referendum on the leadership of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
Bamidele praised Oyebanji’s projects and programmes, describing the governor’s performance as unprecedented in the state’s history, and predicted a “walkover” victory for the ruling party.
“Governor Oyebanji has steered the state with vision, courage and unwavering commitment to the welfare of over 3.8 million residents,” Bamidele said.
He emphasised the importance of voter mobilisation, urging party members and residents to take part actively in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise and ensure they obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
“Ekiti currently has 987,647 registered voters. By August 2026, we aim to increase enrolment by 50 per cent. Mobilising voters is crucial for Oyebanji’s re-election and securing South-West support for Tinubu,” he said.
Bamidele also pledged to lead the campaign council with dedication and discipline, setting a target of a 90 per cent landslide victory for the APC in Ekiti.
He called for unity within the party, stressing that teamwork and harmony among members would be essential to achieving the campaign’s objectives.
In his remarks, Governor Oyebanji thanked Bamidele for his support and assured that his campaign would focus on issues, policies and development plans rather than personal attacks.
The governor also urged all candidates to comply strictly with the Electoral Act 2022, stressing the need for a peaceful, credible and transparent election process.
