A faction of African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced April 3 to April 5 as the date for its national convention where new members of the party’s national working committee are expected to be elected.
Gatekeepers News reportd that the faction, led by Nafi’u Bala, said the convention is part of efforts to reorganise the party’s leadership structure across different levels. According to the group, the process will begin with congresses at various levels before culminating in the national convention where party executives will emerge.
Party leaders also disclosed that a consensus model will be adopted in selecting officials during the congresses. They explained that the approach is aimed at promoting unity and strengthening internal cohesion within the party as it prepares for future political activities.
The development comes amid ongoing internal disputes within the party, as another leadership bloc had earlier announced a different timetable scheduling its own national convention for April 14 after conducting ward, local government and state congresses.
