Gusau Int’l Airport Records First Aircraft Landing Ahead Of Official Activities

Gusau International Airport has received its first-ever flight, marking a major milestone in the state’s aviation development.

Gatekeepers News reports that the maiden aircraft, a Bombardier Challenger 605 operated by the federal government, landed at about 4:30 pm on Sunday as part of a test run ahead of an upcoming visit by dignitaries.

The spokesperson to Dauda Lawal described the event as historic, noting that the test flight was conducted to assess the airport’s readiness for VIP movements. He explained that the operation followed approval from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, which granted a one-off clearance for the landing.

The flight was carried out under visual flight rules and formed part of efforts to ensure the facility meets regulatory and operational standards before full use.

Governor Lawal expressed satisfaction with the successful landing, saying it boosts the image of his administration and represents a big step for Zamfara State, which has existed for over three decades without a functional airport.

The airport project, which began in 2024, is expected to improve transportation, attract investment, and support economic growth in the state once fully completed.
